Our name - the International Development and Environmental Shipping School - clearly describes our objectives that were defined in 1989, and identifies our origins as being firmly rooted in the shipping industry

IDESS saw the potential benefits computers could bring to transfer of knowledge and skill at an early stage, and how well this learning medium suited the requirements of vocational education and training. We developed our first computer based assessment system in 1992 and our first computer based learning program in the same year. The programs were developed in Norway.

It was not until 1997 that IDESS decided to set up a department dedicated to the creation of e-learning tools. The experience and lessons learned from this project gave us the confidence to commit to establishing a new company - IDESS Interactive Technologies (IDESS I.T.) Inc. The company was incorporated in 2001 in Subic Bay.

From the start IDESS I.T. has set itself the target of using all the possibilities offered by the multimedia environment to produce excellent learning programs.

Each e-learning module is designed around meeting specific performance criteria, to deliver measurable learning outcomes.

These basic principles fit the requirements of vocational education and training for any industry. Consequently, IDESS I.T. has been able to diversify its client base to satisfy the needs of not just the shipping industry, but other industries that share similar challenges with respect to the management of risk and seek to achieve their business goals by employing a competent workforce.

We have a diverse and talented team of programmers, multimedia artists, video specialists, and sound recordists, working together with our Subject Matter Experts to produce excellent e-learning modules, videos, assessment systems and competency management systems.
